1. Signing up to the study: An appointment will be made to discuss the trial and sign up if the person is interested in taking part. The participant will need to complete a booklet of questionnaires, which takes approximately 45 minutes.

2. Randomisation: The participant will be allocated randomly (by chance using a computer programme) to one of two physiotherapy types:

Type 1: Treatment as usual - this group will be referred to their local physiotherapy service.

Type 2: The research physiotherapy programme.

 

3. Treatment: Participants will complete their physiotherapy treatment and they will see their neurologist again for a follow up visit within 12 months of starting the trial.

4. Follow Up: All participants will be asked to complete questionnaires after 6 months and 12 months. These can be completed by post, internet or over the phone. After this, the participant has completed the trial.
